Skolengo’s communication tools represent an undeniable asset in the relations between schools and families. 4 school principals give their feedback on the daily use of these tools.

Sylvie Hochart, Principal of the Jacques Daviel junior school in Mesnil-en-Ouche (27), Florent Hassler, Principal of the Notre Dame des Collines junior school in Rive-de-Gier (42), Jean-Michel Delaune, Principal of the Louise Michel junior school in Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray (76) and Romuald Delattre, Principal of the Les Colombes school in Houdain (62) talk about their use of these tools and what has changed in their schools’ operation.

An internal, secure messaging service for communicating with families

The EMS internal messaging service provides communications within the school in complete security. This professional tool, organised into spheres of communication, is only accessible to the school users (staff, students and families).
In the Louise Michel junior school, the messaging service has been one of the first features used by teachers for corresponding with students and parents. Its use has then allowed other EMS tools to be introduced into the school.

« The use of Skolengo in the junior school by the messaging service is very widespread today: it allows us to communicate with the families when parents do not necessarily want to come into the school. On the other hand, families can discuss with teachers for clarifying points seen in class and to inform them of difficulties encountered, etc. »
Sylvie Hochart, Principal of the Jacques Daviel (27) junior school

For Mrs. Hochart, the EMS messaging service is a very important tool for communicating with families. In this rural junior school in the Eure department, located in the centre of a very large territory of 16 municipalities, it can indeed be very difficult to contact parents and to transmit information. The messaging service allows all participants in the educational community (administration, school life, teachers, parents and students) to exchange information, simply and quickly.

Targeted communication for managing unexpected events of daily life

In addition to the messaging service, Mrs. Hochart also uses the targeted communication feature which allows her to perform bulk communication while choosing its targets precisely. This tool, which allows messages to be managed in order of priority, offers the possibility of sending important and urgent information to all users (and in particular, directly to families), in just a few minutes. Transport problems, strikes ..., the unexpected events of school life which can thus be very easily handled.
The messaging service and targeted communication are accessible from the Skolengo’s mobile app which all families can benefit from. The information is therefore always at hand.

« The generations move faster and faster in the use of mobile telephones. There are more and more parents who don’t have internet at home but always have their telephone close by. Therefore, they consult the EMS on their telephones. »
Florent Hassler, Principal of the Notre Dame des Collines junior school.

Public home page of the school website

Finally, a real showcase of the school, the public home page provides a positive image of the school to the outside, while highlighting its news and projects. In the Les Colombes school, the home page allows us to reassure parents of children entering the nursery school for the first time and to inform them about the different partners: pre-schools, student parent association etc.
For Mr. Hassler and Mrs. Hochart, the strength of the home page lies in its links with the private part of Skolengo. Indeed, thanks to blog articles which feed the page, it is easy to communicate publicly while encouraging all users to connect to have more information. The home page is hence the entry door to the EMS and a first step for the development of digital usage in the school.

« The home page in particular attracts families and encourages them to connect to the solution and see all of the services provided in Skolengo. »
Sylvie Hochart, principale du collège Jacques Daviel

These communication tools integrated into Skolengo, allow schools to maintain links with the families. But don’t forget the other services of the solution which provide for discussions and communication within the school. The Organiser in particular remains the favoured communication link between teacher and student.
